About Shanghai Polytechnic University (SSPU)

Shanghai Polytechnic University (SSPU) is a public university in Shanghai, with a focus on engineering and a comprehensive range of disciplines. Founded in 1960 as Shanghai Part-time University of Industry, it adopted its current name in 1984. It is the only university in Shanghai named “Polytechnic University”.

Located in Pudong Jinqiao, the university enjoys a prime location next to the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone and many Fortune Global 500 companies.

The university has 16 schools, over 16,000 full-time students and nearly 1,200 faculty members, including more than 80 high-level talents. The university offers 13 master’s programs, 50 undergraduate programs, and 8 major disciplines. Engineering Science ranks among the top 1% in ESI worldwide.

SSPU conducts hundreds of national research projects and owns more than 10 key research platforms. It maintains close cooperation with COMAC, China State Shipbuilding, Baosteel, Huahong, CAS institutes and other leading enterprises.

The university maintains partnerships with over 170 universities and institutions in 38 countries and regions. It offers 7 all-English majors, 127 all-English courses, and generous scholarships for international students.
