About Jiangsu Normal University (JSNU)
Jiangsu Normal University (JSNU), founded in 1952, is located in Xuzhou, a city renowned for its rich history and cultural heritage. It is jointly established by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Education and serves as a leading regional model university. As one of the first institutions in China authorized to admit international students, JSNU has developed cooperative partnerships with 156 universities in countries including the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, and Russia. The university has welcomed students from 76 countries and regions to pursue their studies at JSNU.
The university has been designated as an authorized host institution for the Chinese Government Scholarship program and recognized as a "Target University for Studying in Jiangsu." It has also been selected for the Ministry of Education’s Exchange Program for Students and Faculty between Mainland China and Hong Kong and Macao Higher Education Institutions. JSNU has taken the lead in establishing several key academic alliances, including the China–Russia Cooperation in Education Alliance, the Jiangsu–Russia University Cooperation Alliance, and the China (Jiangsu)–Latin America University Alliance. The university is also a member of multiple major international consortia, such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization University, the Jiangsu–UK High-Level University Alliance, and the BRICS Universities League.
JSNU established the world’s first overseas Mencius Institute in Malaysia and hosted several research institutions, including the Belt and Road Studies Institute (Research Center for CIS Countries), the Pakistan Research Center, the Australia Research Center, and the China–Latin America People-to-People Exchange Research Base, three of which are officially registered with the Ministry of Education. The university has also built joint research platforms with world-renowned universities such as Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, and the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and carries out cooperative education and credit transfer programs with many international partner universities.
